Ellen Culler Baggett, 69, passed peacefully on February 10, 2024, surrounded by family at her home in Brimfield, OH. Born on October 7, 1954, in Xenia, OH to parents Rev. G. Duane and Barbara Culler. Ellen is survived by her brothers, Robert, Paul and James, and her sister, Susan Conard.
In 1979 Ellen married her beloved partner in life, Steve Baggett. She cherished their three children, Emma (Brett) Baucher, Hannah (Mike) LaScola and Owen Baggett. Ellen was proud of the individuals they have become and the bond they have with each other. Her three grandchildren Mackenzie, Beckett and Temperance always brought a smile to her heart.
Ellen graduated from Wittenberg University in 1976 with a degree in Education. While in college, Ellen played basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey. She was also a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and her friendships there continued throughout her life. Ellen received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Kent State University and retired from Ravenna High School, finding promise in her students and helping them rise to her expectations. Ellen's passion for life and hard work was displayed through her family, soccer, tennis, many friendships, gardening, church groups and teaching. Competitive on the soccer field for close to 30 years, her love of the game and especially her fellow players took her across the country to many tournaments. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from how Ellen lived her life for others.
A memorial service to celebrate Ellen's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 S. Water St. Kent, OH 44240 at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024. If you are unable to attend, the service will be streamed live and recorded online at trinitylutherankent.org. A link will be posted on the website prior to the service in the live stream section. Ellen will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lucus, OH.
