Ellen Mary "Peg" Amodio Lyman

October 13, 1918 — December 23, 2013

Our beloved mother and great grandmother, Ellen (Peg) Amodio-Lyman, age 95, peacefully passed away at Kent Ridge on Monday, December 23, 2013, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.

She was born Ellen Mary Conrad, October 13, 1918, in Norwalk, Ohio, to Margaret (Moroney) and Godfrey Conrad.

Ellen graduated from St. Paul's High School, Norwalk, Ohio, Oberlin School of Commerce and attended Kent State University. She was employed by the Kent City Schools as secretary to the superintendent and retired from Kent State University in 1985 as Administrative Secretary in the office of the Board of Trustees.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Church, a long-time member of the St. John's Circle, Chestnut Society and Coterie I.

She married Frank Amodio in 1943. Frank preceded her in death in 1991. In 1994, she married Lu Lyman, also deceased in 1999. In March 2011, Ellen lost her beloved daughter, Mary Frances Frisina. She is survived by son, Daniel Gene (Linda "Wendy") Amodio, Diamond; grandchildren, Kara (Pettit) Jabella, Ryan (Allison) Pettit, Matthew Pettit, Terry Amodio and Christopher (Debbie) Amodio; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Sawyer, Frances Kline, Alice Kirby, Catherine Raab-Knarr, Anne Conrad; and brother, Albert Godfrey Conrad.

The family would like to thank the Kent Ridge Assisted Living Staff and Nurses and Harbor Light Hospice Care for all of their compassion and excellent care.

Funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Patrick Church in Kent, where the family will greet friends one hour preceding the mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund, 127 Portage Street, Kent, OH 44240.
