Elsie M. Chase

Elsie M. Chase (nee Peterson), 94, beloved wife of the late D. Richard; loving mother of Kenneth R. and Kathryn E. (Matthew) Muldoon; devoted grandmother of Michael S. Ryan and, Colleen (Matt) Muldoon-Morris and great grandmother of Connor M. Morris; dearest sister of the late Carl W. and Edward A. Peterson; and sister, Ruth D. O'Connell; dear aunt and great aunt of many.

She was born November 29, 1919 in Cleveland, to Carl S. and Edith C. (Johnson) Peterson. Elsie attended Cleveland College while working at the Cleveland Public Library and Warner-Swasey Accounting Department. She moved to Kent during World War II and worked at the Kent State University Library. Elsie pursued a career in real estate becoming the first woman broker in Portage County and later winning the Portage County Realtor of the Year award in 1968. She was the owner of Tree City Realty until she retired in 1981.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Kent, Circle E of Women's Fellowship, Women's Club of Kent. Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, reading and golfing.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Elsie at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent Sunday, November 9th from 2-5 PM. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 10th at Kent United Church of Christ with Rev. Heather C. Wicks officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Elsie's memory to the United Church of Christ of Kent, 1400 E. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240.
