Elsie H. (Serfilippi) Giovangnoli

Elsie Giovangnoli, a lifetime resident of Kent/Akron, died February 22, 2011. She was born April 15, 1924 in Kent the third daughter of Gianni Serfilippi and Anna (Pianini) Serfilippi. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Donald P. and two sisters, Dorothy Para and Rita Dennis.

Elsie graduated from Akron North High School in 1942 and immediately went to work in the war effort. She moved back to Kent after the war and married Donald on February 1, 1947. Elsie was active in the Saint Patrick's parish volunteering at both the Church and School. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Infant of Prague Guild, and the Circle of St. Bernadette. Elsie was a resident of Stow Glen Retirement Community the past four years.

Elsie is survived by her son, Thomas (Victoria), grandchildren, Melissa (Phil) Luthman, Stephanie (Noah) Miller, Natalie (John) Majorkeiwicz, and Allan Derby. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Trenton, Marissa, Rachel, Samuel, Lauren, Daniel, Catherine, and Madeline.

Calling hours will be from 6-9 PM Friday, February 25th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 26th at St. Patrick Church in Kent. Internment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery, also in Kent, following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Visiting Nurse Service, Hospice Care, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333. The family would like to express thanks to the Stow Glenn caretakers for the kindness and care over the past four years.
