Evelyn Elizabeth Ruston, 96, formerly of Akron, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Stow Glen Retirement Center.
She was born August 27, 1918 in Hopewell. In her Junior and Senior years of High School (1937-38), she was invited to study music at the Interlochen Music Camp under Cecil Leeson. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Church of Akron. She was involved in many church activities, including the church orchestra and serving meals monthly for AARP. She was also involved in various PTO's and the Children's Concert Society of Akron. She taught piano at Polsky's in Akron and in her home for many years. She was also a former member of the United States Post Office Customer Advisory Council.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela Charl (Martin) Clemens of Tallmadge and Carolyn Ann Ruston of Kent; grandchildren, Noel Charles Clemens, Nicholas Christian Clemens, James Laurence (Melissa) Clemens, Noah Roderick Clemens, and Noelle Christine Dean; step-grandchild, Carissa Clemens; step great grandchildren, Kennedy Clemens and Haven Clemens; niece and nephews, Peggy Kinney, Joe Flinner, Mike Flinner, Diane Dye, Roger Wells, Dan Garver, William Baker, and Delbert Baker; and friend of the family, Harold Clemens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Ruston, her biological parents, Hettie and Owen Wells; her adoptive parents, J.A. and Nora Baker; brothers, Paul Wells and Harry Baker; sisters, Dortha Garver and Ellen Flinner; and nieces, Patricia, Darlene, and Janet.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 1st at Stow Glen Cedar Hall Community Room, 4285 Kent Road, Stow, with Pastor Kim Barnett officiating.
