Felice “Phil” Simone, Kent Ohio passed away peacefully June 23, 2022 at Summa City Hospital, Akron, Ohio after a long illness.

Phil was born May 2, 1929 to his parents, Joseph and Theresa Simone.

Phil grew up in nearby Ravenna, Ohio and graduated from Ravenna High School, class of 1947.  After high school Phil enlisted in the Army serving stateside during the Korean War.  Phil was an avid sports fan closely following the Guardians, Browns and the beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.  Phil was very active bowling in the Kent K of C league, and worked many years trying to get that elusive “300” game.  Golf became a passion later on in life.  He became very involved golfing at local golf courses in the Kent area, having fun with friends, relatives and his wife “Ellie”.  Many young men in the Kent area also learned basic baseball skills under his leadership coaching in the Kent Hot Stove and St Patrick’s youth baseball league.  Most important in Phil’s life was his wife and family.  He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Phil married Eleanor Knapp at St Patrick church in Kent, June 27 1953.  They were happily married 69 years.

Phil is survived by his wife Eleanor, his children Nancy (Randy) Fowler, Karla (Robert) Schaffer, Terri (John) Frahlich, Andy (Lisa) Simone, Diane (John) Pritt and Linda (Roger) Brown, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

A private Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kent, Ohio.  Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery, Ravenna, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Patrick Catholic School Endowment fund.
