Flora L. Fertig was called to be with the Lord on 1/31/2017.
Her family and friends let go of a wonderful women, and heaven gained a beautiful angel.
Flora Louise Coy Fertig was born in the early spring on Tuesday March 1, 1932 to Russell and Louise Coy, their 3rd child. Flora was raised with her 2 older brothers, Tom and Bob. Her family lived in the Brady Lake area all her childhood years.
She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. She married Glen E Fertig on April 21,1951. They raised their family of 7 children on Merrill Rd.
She is survived by her children: Glenn (Theresa) Fertig of Kent, Louise Broyles of Uniontown, Tom (Deanna) Fertig of Brimfield, David (April) Fertig of New Castle-Pennsylvania, Andrew (Edie) Fertig of Palmyra, Cathleen (Mark) Clark of Kent, and Leonard (Dawn) Fertig of Kent; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sister in laws; many nieces, nephews, and many special friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Fertig, grandsons, Matthew Broyles and Michel Alyward, great grandson, Glenn E. Fertig IV, son in law, Kenneth Broyles, daughter in laws, Mary Elizabeth Overby-Fertig and Mary Ann Sloey-Fertig.
Flora was a member of Lake Brady United Methodist Church and served on many boards. She was a "Mentor" at the Kent and Ravenna Elementary schools. She would read to the children and the children would read to her. She often just listened to them if they needed someone to talk to. She loved the children and loved her mentoring position. She worked at Twin Star Lanes and Robinson Memorial Hospital snack shop. Flora was an Avon representative for over 20 years.
Visitation will take place at Lake Brady United Methodist Church, 1995 Brady Lake Rd, Kent on Saturday February 4, 2017 from 12-1pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 1. Following the services there will be a luncheon at the church. Memorials can be made to UH Hospice or the Lake Brady United Methodist Church.
