Florence Althea Smeiles, 85, of Brimfield, passed away January 22, 2012, in her home surrounded by family.
She was born December 19, 1926, in Canal Fulton to Arthur and Helen (Babb) Clapp. She was an active member of St. Patrick Church, Kent, its parish ministries, and Cursillo.
She married Theodore Smeiles, her husband of 61 years, on July 7, 1947, and survived him by four years. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest and Rexford Clapp; and son, Paul Christopher Smeiles. She is survived by brother, Vernon (Angeline) Clapp; daughters, Kathleen Smeiles and Theresa (Delano) Huggard; sons, Gregory Smeiles, Phil Smeiles, Raymond (Judy) Smeiles, Christopher (Debbie) Smeiles, Steven Smeiles, and Joseph (Julia) Smeiles; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and extraordinary grandmother. Faith, family, and friends defined Florence's life - This love-gift survives her, too.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 25th from 5-8 p.m. at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, Kent. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26th at St. Patrick Church in Kent. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery, Kent.
