Frank J. Smetak, 74, of Ravenna, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at VA Medical Center Cleveland.
He was born January 14, 1942 in Cleveland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Cambria, during the Vietnam War. "HE WAS ALWAYS ONE STEP OVER THE LINE." He drove truck for Spector, PIE, and retired from CF. He also was a driving instructor for TDS in Edinburg. Worked for a private company and delivered for Filmco. He never totally retired! "to all his friends."
He loved antiquing for gas station memorabilia, planting shrubs, cutting firewood, and was a big Steelers fan. He loved his dog, Riley, who was always at his side. He loved Chuck, Ashley and Alexis who were always there for him in time of need.
He is survived by his sons: Frank (Carrie) Smetak of Aurora, Shawn (Rebecca) Smetak and grandchildren of Ravenna Twp, David Smetak of Kent, Jonathan Smetak of Kent; Madeline " hisTweetie" and family of Ravenna.
Funeral services will be held at Western Reserve National Cemetery Rittman, with Chaplain Randy K. Meyer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW 6000 New Milford Road Ravenna, OH 44266.
