Fred W. Anderson, 92, of Kent, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at his home.

He was born October 27, 1920 in Kent, to Charles W. and Agnes C. (Haynes) Anderson. He was a technical sergeant in the U S Army during World War II. Fred worked for 16 years at the former Ravenna Hardware and retired after 20 years as plant operator at the Akron Water Plant in Franklin Township. He spent his life as a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger. He was a member of Lake Brady United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He loved to garden and read.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby G (Knight) Anderson, whom he married on April 2, 1954; son, Edward (Sylke) Anderson of Petaluma, CA; daughters, Linda (Daniel) Amodio of Diamond, Joyce (Rev. Paul) Meduri of Ravenna, and Sharon (Walter) Hamilton of Kalamazoo, MI; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brother, Earl (Pat) Anderson of Canton; and sister, Mary Ann Reynolds of Kent. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Winton Anderson, Vernon Anderson, Charles Anderson, Roland Anderson, Leonard Anderson, John Anderson, and Gene Anderson; and sister, Martha Bender.

Calling hours will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, January 24th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main Street, Kent, and Friday, January 25th from 12-1 PM at Lake Brady United Methodist Church, 1995 Brady Lake Road, Kent OH 44240 where services will be held at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Gary Glasscock officiating. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Brady United Methodist Church or RMH Foundation-Hospice, POB 1204, Ravenna, OH 44266-1204.
