Fred Palcho, 82, of Kent, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Hospice Care Center in Akron.
He was born May 29, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Stephen C and Gertrude (nee Winkowski) Palcho.
He grew up in Cleveland and moved to Kent in 1955. He was a graduate of KSU; he was a teacher in Ravenna and Stow school systems until 1975. In 1975 he started a new company 'Multi Video Service' - a videotape court reporting firm, a first of its kind business. He retired and moved to Bluffton, SC in 2002.
Fred was an avid golfer - it was one of his favorite pastimes. He also loved landscaping and decorating. He had many friends; he loved people and telling them stories and jokes, along with being a history buff. Fred was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and his family was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sonya (nee Eaken) Palcho, whom he was married for 62 years; son, Tim (Kris) Palcho; daughter, Terri (Jon) Jastromb; grandchildren, Kyle (Rina) Jastromb, Evan (Allison) Palcho, Tyler Jastromb, Kaitlyn Jastromb; great grandchild, Madeline, due this June; niece, Jody (John) Kovolyan; nephew, Fred (Jennifer) Brown.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Thursday, May 25 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home And Crematory in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, May 26 at Standing Rock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Drive, Akron, OH 44333.
