Garth Ibrahim Belden, 44, of Kent, listened to his last country song at the Cleveland Clinic on October 21, 2019, shortly after watching his beloved Green Bay Packers destroy the Oakland Raiders.
Garth was born on January 15, 1975 in Cleveland to George and Helena Belden. He was a 1993 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School, where he was chosen as the Most Improved Student in his senior class. He worked in a variety of fields, most notably as a manager of self-storage units, and was known both as a quick learner and a great boss.
Garth lived life on his own terms. He laughed loudly, loved deeply, treasured his friends, and never met a person that he wouldn't talk to for hours about any subject on earth. He loved Adam Sandler movies, his bocce league, slasher movie franchises, the Packers and the Buckeyes, trucks, beets, Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers, and especially WWE wrestling, in which he was a true believer. The moment Garth left the earth, three semi trucks loaded with equipment for Monday Night Raw rolled into Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Garth would have liked that.
His greatest achievement was as a father to his children Spencer, Madison Lynn and Griffin Belden. The older they got, the more they appreciated what a unique man he was, and he has left a legacy that they will carry for the rest of their lives. Madison Lynn fondly referred to her father as Garth Vader in honor of his love for Star Wars. It brought Garth great comfort that Spencer never left his side during his last illness.
Besides his children, Garth leaves behind his parents and his older brother Sam, whom he called Bub, and to whom he will always be his pal Garther. He was preceded by his grandparents, Harold and Mary Belden and Ida and Ibrahim Kukuljevic, his Opa who took him everywhere when he was just a kid. Garth had a wide assortment of aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces Hannah and Grace, all of whom just loved being around him.
Cremation, a family tradition, has taken place, and there will be no services. At a later date, there will be a Celebration of Life with no tears. Garth never liked being around sad people.
Bissler & Sons Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
