Kent

Gary L. Zimmer, 72, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Erie, PA on February 10, 1952 to the late James and Anabel Zimmer. Gary was employed as a delivery driver with UPS for 30 years, retiring in 2002. His “retirement” allowed him to start his own successful small business. He had a passion for cars, John Deere tractors, and took great pride in keeping his property and automobiles in pristine condition. In his free time he enjoyed golf, snowmobiling and spending time with friends and family. He approached life with a sense of humor, making him a great conversationalist that was always ready with a witty remark. He was a loving husband, father and friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister Elaine Klie. He leaves his loving wife of 42 years Jane Zimmer; son and daughter-in- law Ted and Chelsea Zimmer; daughter and son-in-law Jill and Daryl Shanley; grandchildren Theo and Eloise; his brother Richard Zimmer and sister-in-law Paula Phillips.

There will be no formal services at this time, but his family looks forward to celebrating Gary’s life and legacy this fall near their hometown of Edinboro, Pennsylvania. In honor of Gary’s life, his family and friends will be supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and are raising funds in his memory.
