Jeri Baird (Geraldine L. Horvath) of Kent, Ohio passed away on August 10, 2018 with her family by her side. Jeri was born September 15, 1942. She was a proud life-long resident of Kent.
She will be remembered lovingly by her husband, James Baird of Kent; daughters, Lori (Jim) Stone of Fairlawn and Julie (Jonathan) Fisher of Kent and Los Angeles; grandchildren, Michelle Stone of Houston, Texas, Claire Stone of Fairlawn, Ohio and Addison Fisher of Kent and Los Angeles; parents, the late Thelma E. Aspey, Joseph P. Horvath and Carol Horvath; brothers Jeff Sekel of Kent, Joseph Horvath of Livonia, Michigan;
Before retiring, Jeri was co-owner and operator of Twin Lakes Hair Fashions, a popular hair styling salon in Kent, as well as Baronwood Hair Styling in Rootstown. Her love of color and design allowed her to style hundreds of Kent residents. Jeri had a way to make each of us feel so special, beautiful and loved. You could count on her support to lend an ear or caring advice while sitting in her beauty chair.
Jeri had a love of horses at an early age... she was always drawing and painting them, as well as riding them. She started the 4-H club, Foxy Trotters in 1974 with her best friend, Marilyn Knights. The group is still growing strong today and her daughters continue her legacy of riding horses.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She adored teaching them to bake and taking their homemade goods to elderly neighbors. Every year, she opened up her home on Christmas Eve to celebrate family and friendship. She loved decorating, entertaining and providing sensational feasts! Jeri also provided meals to the less fortunate by volunteering at Kent Social Services in her spare time.
Jeri was an avid gardener and spent hours on her prized raspberry, blueberry and hydrangea bushes. She custom built two homes, two beauty shops and a lifetime of friends and family.
