Geraldine (Sledzinski) Mcpherson

Geraldine McPherson, 98, of Ravenna, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center.  She was born in Detroit, MI on March 5, 1926 to the late Frank and Celia Sledzinski.  Geraldine earned her associate degree in medical technology from Akron University.  She was employed as a medical assistant for many years and worked with the American Cancer Society and as an operator with AT&T.

She was a longtime member of the Chestnut Society at Kent State University and enjoyed golf and traveling.  Geraldine volunteered extensively at Robinson Memorial Hospital and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy R. McPherson on December 28, 2013.

She leaves her children, Constance (John) Baesemann of Kent and Craig (Cheryl) McPherson of Akron; grandchildren, Ann Baesemann of Kent, Amy (Matt) Vodicka of Wilton, CT, Shawn (Liz) McPherson of Cuyahoga Falls, Melanie (Samuel Mandell) Mansfield of Virginia and Joel (Rachel) Mansfield of Dayton; great grandchildren, Simon, Logan, Caden, Penelope and James.

In honoring her wishes, Geraldine will be cremated and laid to rest with her husband at Standing Rock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to Hospice of the Western Reserve or to Vista Veranda Senior Living.
