Germaine Adams Williams died peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022 (her 99th birthday), after several days of visits with her loving family.
Born on February 28, 1923, in Kent to Matthew Xavier Adams and Olive Valley Adams, Germaine was a proud graduate of St. Patrick Elementary School and Theodore Roosevelt High School.  She was a lifelong member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, where she was a soloist at weddings and funerals and conducted a boys’ choir for many years.  Germaine was a very active volunteer in the Kent community throughout her long life.  Her love of music led her to be a charter member of The Kent State University Orchestra Society.  She served 25 years on the State Board of the Blossom Friends of the Cleveland Orchestra and founded a Blossom chapter in Kent.  As part of her work with Blossom Friends, she supported students attending the Blossom Music program at Kent State University during the summers.  She was an avid gardener and active in Elm Garden Club.  She was also a member of The Chestnut Society, which supports the Kent State University Fashion Museum.  Germaine enjoyed her long association and many friends in Kent Coterie III.  In her spare time, she was a voracious reader, enjoying history, mysteries and just about anything in between.  One of her great pleasures was baking cookies and cakes with the flour from her late husband Charles’ family business, the Williams’ Brothers Mill, located in the heart of Kent from 1879 until its closing in 2016.
Germaine is survived by her daughter, Mary Wetterlin (Sam) of Edina, MN, son, Charles A. (Pete) Williams III (Virginia Apperson) of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Elizabeth Adams (Dave) of Albuquerque, NM; cousin, Alan Moller (Rita) of New York City; grandchildren, Evan Williams (Cara) of New Hill, NC, Lauren Renner (Pete) of Columbus, OH, Claire Schickel (Eric) of Port Orford, OR, Adam Wetterlin (Mary) of Richfield, MN, William Wetterlin (Jessica) of Edina, MN, Douglas Wetterlin (Amy) of Minneapolis, MN; Owen and Emma Adams of Albuquerque, NM; 10 great grandchildren and many, many friends.  She was so proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to her visits with them.  They were a light in her life.  Germaine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Williams II, her parents and her siblings, Muriel Adams, Edwin Adams, Jack Adams, Aurelia Senko and Robert Adams.
