Glenn R. Alexander, peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Kent Healthcare Center.
Glenn was born October 11, 1923 in Akron to parents, George D. and Orpha Alexander. Glenn married Dorothy Mae Klinko on June 23, 1951 and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Glenn graduated from North High School in Akron in 1942. He joined the US Army in 1943 and was discharged as a Corporal in December of 1945. Glenn served in the European Theater of War. He was involved with the Invasion of Normandy and was a key participant in Operation Mulberry.
Glenn joined Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1946 and was a foreman apprentice and a supervisor in the engineering estimating department.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae; brother, Paul Alexander of Conway, SC; nephews, Geoffrey (Hillary) Alexander of Chapel Hill, SC, James (Lisa) Alexander of Charlotte, SC, and Richard (Shirley) Alexander of Warm Springs, GA; four grand nephews; and one grand niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Alexander.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent for 60 years. He and Dorothy greatly enjoyed golfing and world travel. Glenn will be missed and fondly remembered by his family, golf buddies, and neighbors.
