Glenn H. Marxen Jr.

February 20, 1941 — April 4, 2020

Glenn Henry Marxen Jr, 79, of Ravenna, passed away April 4, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

He was born in Kent on February 20, 1941 to Glenn Henry Marxen Sr. and Catherine Dorothy (Kline) Marxen.

Glenn attended Kent Roosevelt High School class of 1960.  He enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and was stationed in Korean. He was part of the U.S. Service Army 707th Ordnance Battalion 1960 – 1962.  He received Honorable Discharged in 1966.

Glenn met the love of his life and married Judith (Judy) Anne (Serani, Griggy) Marxen on September 11, 1965.  Glenn worked and retired after 33 years from Filmco Inc, in Aurora, Ohio.  Glenn and Judy in addition to having three sons of their own, fostered over 13 newborn babies for Catholic Charities prior to them being adopted by permeant families.  He was a leader of young men being a Scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 552 & 554. He helped mentor 12 of them, including his oldest son Michael, to the highest ranking of Eagle Scout.  His love was of his faith, family, friends and especially his grandson Ethan.  He enjoyed fishing, scroll sawing, woodworking, photography, listening to country music, and helping anyone in need with the biggest welcoming smile.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents Glenn Sr. and Catherine Dorothy Marxen; wife, Judy of 28 years; brothers James R Marxen, Joseph E. Marxen and sisters Dorothy Anne (Marxen) Jacobs, Margaret (Marxen) Boyet.

Glenn is survived by his siblings, brother, John C. (Vicki Evans) Marxen of Morrow, GA, sister, Mary L. Marxen of Kent; sons, Michael Marxen of Ravenna, Robert Patrick “Pat” (Kelly) Marxen and grandson, Ethan Marxen of Kent, and son, Thomas Marxen of Ravenna.

Glenn will be laid to rest at Grandview Memorial Park next to his wife Judy with a private service due to the coronavirus. The family will have a celebration of Glenn’s life at a later date.
