Harry William Rager, age 72, of Macedonia, Ohio passed away on May 3, 2024.
Harry was born to Betty Jane Morgan and Paul Junior Rager on March 27, 1952 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Akron, Ohio where he received his high school diploma and began his more than 45-year long career in retail with the Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Company (Acme). He was a Vietnam Veteran; he bravely served his nation for three years in the United States Army. Most of his adult life was spent living in Kent, Ohio.
In 1977, he met the love of his life, Michelann Franckhauser. They were married in September 1978 and later completed their family when they welcomed two daughters, Stephanie and Jennifer.
He was a dedicated father, always present at sporting events and dance recitals. He helped with homework and projects and told some of the best stories about his own life. He always ensured his girls had what they needed. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Whether he was curled up with them reading a book, at a recital or a game, his grandchildren meant the world to him and they all made him extremely proud. His children and grandchildren are his legacy, the best pieces of him left on this earth.
Harry enjoyed traveling, most often to European countries, with his wife and family. He enjoyed woodworking and created several beautiful pieces. Known for his playfulness and good sense of humor, he was always prepared with a joke or a prank.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who was always generous with his time and willing to lend a hand. He was the strength of his family, someone who could always be relied upon when needed. With his passing, he leaves a large hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him most.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Rager (1966); father, Paul Junior Rager (2005) and brother, Paul Thomas Rager (2009). He is survived by his loving wife, Michelann Rager daughters, Stephanie (Andrew) Jalwan and Jennifer (Stephen) McVay; and four grandchildren Porter, Bridgette, Graham and Calliope; his brother, Kenneth Rager; sister Othello Elkins and many nephews and nieces.
