Heinrich E. 'Henry' Kluenker, 82, of Kent, passed away peacefully Monday, April 6, 2015, at Akron City Hospital's Palliative Care Unit.
He was born January 19, 1933 in Hannover, Germany, to Heinrich and Alma Kluenker.
Heinrich immigrated to the United States in 1963, two years prior to his longtime love and wife Karin of 49 years. They resided in Kent, Ohio since 1968. His career spanned nearly 50 years as a highly recognized foreign car master mechanic where he was honored with numerous service awards. Most of his career was spent with Clarke Hayn Motors, Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls.
He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, skiing and the outdoors. He had a lifelong passion for European soccer and listening to big band jazz. His greatest pride and joy was spending time with his family and the extraordinary bond he shared with his two grandchildren.
Henry captured the hearts of all who knew him. His warm smile, compassion, infectious laugh and witty sense of humor will be cherished by those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Karin (Malchus) Kluenker, whom he married on April 2, 1966; daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Bruce) Pelski of Ocala, FL; grandson, Preston Pelski; granddaughter, Peyton Pelski; brother, Fritz Klunker; sister, Ursel Hesse and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anneliese Marisavljevic and brother, Edka Hesse.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 12th from 2PM - 4PM with the Memorial service immediately following at 4PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, 628 West Main Street, Kent, with Kevin O'Brien officiating.
