Helen Weingart, 86, of Kent, died Monday, June 25, 2018, at Avenue at Aurora.
She was born February 23, 1932 in Edinburg, to Dimitri and Rosie (Pochna) Wawrin. Helen taught elementary in Stow, then worked for the Twinsburg and Nordonia Schools as a Guidance Counselor. In retirement she supervised student teaching through Kent State University and worked as a Real Estate Agent for Wilbur Realty and Ohio Realty. In 1978-1979, Helen was Jennings Scholarship Award winner. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Kent. She enjoyed traveling on her own and with Elderhostel. Helen volunteered with the Realtor Association Senior Citizen Prom and After Prom. She enjoyed hiking, walking, gardening, cooking and sewing.
She is survived by nephew, Charles "Chuck" Wawrin of Kent; great nephew, Gabriel "Gabe" Wawrin of Columbus; great niece, Nicolina "Nikki" Wawrin of New York, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Weingart; six brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held 5-7 PM Sunday, July 8th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Private funeral services will be held.
