Henry W. Ailes, age 96, of Kent, OH, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Eden Vista of Stow.
Henry was born October 18, 1926 in Johnstown, PA to the late Elwood and Kathryn (Bingham) Ailes.
Henry “Hank” Ailes was a special person, a kind man who provided for and loved his family. He came to Ohio from Johnstown Pennsylvania in 1953 to find a career with the Ford Motor Company. Prior to that he was in the Merchant Marine and the Army during World War II. He loved and married the late Trudy Savering in 1947 and they were blessed with six children as well as a loving legacy of 59 grand-, great-, and great-great grandchildren. Hank was known to all who met him to be a warm and caring person. He was a dedicated Christian worshiping as a Catholic, recognizing that God sent his son Jesus to provide salvation for all who believed in him. Hank was 6 days from his 97th birthday when he passed away. Survived by his six children, Bonnie Mendiola (Larry, deceased), Diane Kelley (Larry), Patrick Ailes (Peggy), Debbie Pletz (John), Henny Ailes (Peggy), and Tracy Shaffer (Chris) miss his wisdom and compassion as well as his smiles, his laughs, and his occasional orneriness. They greatly thank the staff at Eden Vista in Stow and Crossroads Hospice for the loving care they gave Hank.
Calling hours will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, October 16, 2023 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, Ohio 44240. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. David Bridling officiating. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery.
