Howard Russell Thompson, II, 83, of Kent, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at his Home in Kent. He was born September 25, 1926 in Canton, to Howard R. and Ina Marie (Musson) Thompson. He was a retired Railroad Conductor from the Erie Railroad. He was a member of American Legion Post #496, Kent Elks Lodge #1377, and Kent VFW. He is survived by his wife, Caroline (Melesky) Thompson, whom he married on May 5, 1951, sons; Howard (Lori) Thompson III of Ravenna, Patrick (Robin) Thompson of Kent, and Michael (Lisa) Thompson of Kent. Daughters; Christine Spear of Kent, and Theresa (Jeff) Smith of Kent, grandchildren; John (Jenny) Schumm, Dana (Don) Smith, J. P. Smith, Rachel Thompson, Tara Thompson; Patrick Thompson, Rusty Thompson, and Michael Thompson; great grandchildren; Collin Schumm, Luke Schumm, and Rhea Ross. He was preceded in death by daughter, Kim Thompson. The family would like to send a special Thank You to Dr. Prestegaard, Amanda, & staff and Dr. Dorf & staff, Dr. Minot, and the nurses at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
