Ida Louise Lowder
Ida Louise Lowder, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
She was born August 28, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN to Lloyd E. and Alberta Jean (Hancock) Wiggins, Sr.
She is survived by: her son, Lloyd (Kelly) Lowder of Salem, VA; daughters, Angela K. Lowder of Cleveland, Linda (Marvin) McConnell of North Canton; grandchildren, Elijah Lowder of Cleveland, Mary Jo Lowder of Salem, VA, Michael (Dana) McConnell of Louisville, Matthew McConnell of North Canton; great grandchildren, Aubry and Blayke McConnell; sister, Jeannie (Don) Baker of IN; brother-in-law, Edgar (Cathy) Stevenson; and sister-in-law Barbara Wiggins; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews throughout the United States. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Gene Lowder, brother, Lloyd E. Wiggins, Jr., sister, Janice Kay Stevenson, and parents.
There were many, many more children and adults who called her "Mom" or "Grandma Da" - they survive her as well.
An avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and her beloved Lebron James, she had her own victory parade the same day as the 2016 NBA Champions.
Most recently Ida was employed as a school crossing guard for the Cleveland Public Schools, believing it was her mission to protect neighborhood children and "brighten the corner where you are." She retired in 2009 from PNC Bank with prior employment at Huntington Bank/Portage National Bank. For many years she worked with her father at the Lawson's store in Kent, Ohio, on Route 43.
She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Cleveland. In prior years she worshipped at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Riverwood Chapel in Kent, and The Chapel in Akron.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7th, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 West Main Street, Kent. Calling hours will be from 6 - 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Her life will also be celebrated at a service on Saturday, August 27th at 4:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 2592 West 14th Street, in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, IN, tentatively scheduled for September 10th, 2016.
