Ingrid Hansen Sander, 86, of Kent, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at her home.
She was born August 27, 1930 in Hamburg, Germany, to Karl A.R. and Erika Frieda (Knaut) Hansen. She attended Gymnasium (High School) and received her Abitur (Degree) in 1950 in Hamburg, Germany. Ingrid completed nursing school in Liverpool, England, before coming to the United States in 1954 to join her family. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Robinson Memorial Hospital when it was still in downtown Ravenna, retiring in 1992. Ingrid was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the German Family Society. Ingrid loved travel, theatre, music and reading. During her travels she enjoyed attending museums and experiencing the local arts and culture.
Above all else Ingrid loved her family. She kept in touch with childhood and school friends and her extended family across the globe throughout her life.
She is survived by sons, Olaf (Kim Nesnadny) Sander of Lyons, CO and Dirk Sander of Kent; daughter, Heidi (Greg Polly) Sander of Fishers, IN; grandsons, Nathan Sander and Jake Polly both of Fishers, IN; brothers, Holger Hansen of Kent, Axel Hansen of New Preston, Connecticut and Jens Hansen of Georgetown, TX; nieces and nephews, Marilyn Silver of New Jersey, Glenn Hansen of Pennsylvania, Tanya Hansen of New York, Hans-Dieter Hansen of Illinois, Michael Hansen of Pennsylvania, Bridget DeRosiers of Massachusetts, Pamela Steinle of Pennsylvania; many great nieces and nephews; and many cousins In Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Erika Hansen, brother, Uwe Hansen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 2 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, with calling hours being held from 12 PM until the time of service. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
