James Joseph Clinton passed away on April 26, 2012, at Akron City Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on October 4, 1924, to Grace and Christopher Clinton, in Cohoes, New York.
Jim joined the U. S. Army at the age of 17 and served with honor for 23 years, including service in World War II and the Korean War. Upon retirement from the army, he embarked on a second career with Kroger Company. He retired from Kroger in 1982 and enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling in the early years of retirement. In the later years of his retirement, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren and was always available when needed. He had a sense of humor throughout his life that delighted everyone who knew him. He was unfailingly honest, loyal and devoted to his family and his wife of almost 64 years, the love of his life, who stood by his side with enduring love and devotion as he struggled through serious illnesses.
Jim is survived by his wife, Margie (Gillie) Clinton, four daughters: Marilyn Khoury of Cuyahoga Falls, Mindy Camillo of Ravenna, Melinda Otto of Kent, and Melissa Mathes of Illinois; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Mary Grimshaw of Albany, New York; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by sister, Eleanor Clinton.
Jim's family extends thanks to helpful friends/neighbors and the medical professionals who cared for him, with very special thanks to: Marianne Tauer of Fresenius Dialysis Center, Stow-Glen Retirement Village, Akron City Hospital, and Dr. Roger Chaffee.
Calling hours will be held 5- 7:30 PM Monday April 30th at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home 628 West Main Street Kent, where a funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday May 1, 2012, officiated by Father Richard Pentello. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery
