James Guerrini, 87, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Friday, November 29, 2024 surrounded by his family.
James, also affectionately known as Jim, Jimmy or Greenie, was born in Greenville, PA on May 30, 1937. He was the son of the late Domenico and Philomena (D’Alfonso) Guerrini. James graduated from Penn High School in Greenville, PA in 1956. He had fond memories of his youthful days growing up in Greenville, particularly those involving simple joys of Italian meals with his large family, long talks with friendly neighbors on porches, and exploring the banks of the Shenango River.
James worked at Loblaw’s Grocery and Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Greenville before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Youngstown State University. James was employed as an art teacher with Windham Exempted Village Schools from 1973 until he retired in 1999. After retiring from teaching, James was able to spend more time attending to his two children. He also worked several part-time jobs that he approached with the same dedication as his teaching career, at Printing Concepts in Stow, the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center, Michael Angelo’s Winery and the RC Graham Company.
James had a passion for adventure and traveling, taking many road, fishing, and camping trips out West and to the Boundary Waters. He especially loved taking family vacations with his wife and children. James and his sons enjoyed many years of membership in YMCA Indian Guides. He also volunteered his time over the years at Hudson Middle School, St. Mary Men's Club seafood dinners, and more recently, the Italian-American festival in Akron. James was a faithful member of St. Mary Church in Hudson. His wry sense of humor and unpretentiousness brought joy to many people.
James’ talents included miniature watercolor and pencil drawings, caricatures and creating a variety of art items to entertain his children and others. James’ passion for art extended to the kitchen. He was an excellent cook and his food presentations were works of art.
James was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his wife and was a proud father of two sons who meant the world to him. That great love of family was extended to his eldest son’s wife and youngest son’s fiancée. He cherished spending time with all his family and prayed for them every day.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Victoria, Philomena, Jean and Janice; and his brother Anthony.
James will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Lori Guerrini; sons, Anthony (Ryka) Guerrini and Christopher (Emily) Guerrini; sister Jeanette; sister-in-law Kathe; brothers-in-law, Frank and Sam; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
