James H. Horning Sr., 73, of Ravenna, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, in Largo, FL.
He was born July 24, 1943 in Akron to Raymond and Eleanor F. (Humphrey) Horning. James was a graduate of Kent State High School. He enjoyed six months per year in Largo, Florida. He served as President of the Men's Club at Midway Am/Can Mobile Park. He also enjoyed playing cards, antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Jim is retired from the Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills.
He is survived by his wife, Martha E. (Clapp) Horning, whom he married on November 4, 1987; son, James (Debra) Horning, Jr. of Akron; step-son, Steven Miller of Palatka; step-daughter, Kathleen (Donnie) Thomas of Kent; four grandchildren; and brother, William Horning of Kent; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-daughter, Traci L. Miller.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 PM Saturday, April 22 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent. Private burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.
