James Bernard Kiel, 87, of Brimfield, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his home.
He was born September 4, 1929 in Akron to John and Katherine (Hickey) Kiel. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Korean War. James was a retired Akron Firefighter. He was a member of St. Patrick Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Braun), whom he married 61 years ago; children, Brian Kiel of San Diego, CA, Martin (Pamela) Kiel of Oxnard, CA, Dennis Kiel of Akron, Roger Kiel of Akron, Kevin (Diana) Kiel of Fairport Harbor, Peggy (John) Dolensky of Akron, Chris (Jennifer) Kiel of Durango, CO, and Carol Redford of Sharon Twp., OH; grandchildren, Deven, Jessica, Jeffrey, Danielle, Margaret, James, Henry, Peter, Mary, Martha, John Paul, Izzy, and Sean; grand dog, MacGyver; great grandchildren, Jacob, Cody, Macen, Wyatt, and Destinee; and sister, Mary (Jack) McNerney of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Frank, Bill, and Paul.
Calling hours will be held 5:30-7:30 PM Wednesday, October 5th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Last Alarm services will be conducted at 7PM by the Akron Area Retired Firefighters Association. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, October 6th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Restland Cemetery.
