James M. "Jamie" Lantz, 62, of Kent, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 12, 1954 in Akron, to Fred and JoAnn (Kiddy) Lantz. James served in the U.S. Air Force as a Missleman for 14 years attaining the rank of Captain during Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf Campaigns. Most recently he worked at Akron Children's Hospital as a Shift Supervisor in the Environmental Department, where he thoroughly enjoyed the comraderies and friendships with his colleagues. James was an avid paintball player, whose wit, sarcasm and humor will be greatly missed. He loved to cook and was always experimenting with recipes. James loved animals, especially Chloe and Gizmo his two Pugs. A private man, he was proud of his son, Chris and his accomplishments and especially proud of his three grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson and Braedon whom he loved to the moon and back.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Ann (Reese) Lantz, whom he married on March 20, 1976; son, Chris (Megan) Lantz of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson and Braedon Lantz all of Tallmadge; father, Fred Lantz of Kent; brothers, Eric K. (Ann) Lantz of Beaverton, OR and Garold A. (Sandra) Lantz of Mountain Top, PA; nephews, Steven and Scott Lantz of Beaverton, OR; sister-in-law, Mary Reese of Kent; nephew, Jordan Reese. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn (Kiddy) Lantz.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 29th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, June 30th,with Rev. Dr. David Palmer.
