James L. Myers

February 17, 1929 — April 11, 2014

James L. Myers went home to be with the Lord on April 11th, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital, after courageously battling a long illness.

Jim was born on February 17th, 1929 in Brimfield, Ohio to Barbara Myers ( Liddle ) and George W. Myers. He then moved to the Kent, Ravenna area, where he lived his entire life.

Jim was a true patriot for his country. He served in the United States Airforce during World War 2 from 1946 - 1949 and again during the Korean War from 1950 - 1951.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Lois ( Conaway ) Myers, whom he met at Moon Glow Roller Rink in 1950. They were then married in Pasadena, TX on February 28th, 1951 and shared 63 amazing years together. Jim and Lois were blessed with three beloved children: Suzie ( James ) Heldreth of Kent, J.P ( Joyce ) Myers, and Laura ( Tim ) Young, all from Ravenna. Jim and Lois have 6 wonderful grandchildren who were precious in his heart; Bart ( Amy ) Heldreth, Jennifer ( Frank ) Edwards, Josh ( Michelle ) Myers, Jon ( Christy ) Myers, Julie ( Eric ) Christian and Lisa Young. He thoroughly enjoyed having his 14 great - grandchildren, all of whom he took great pleasure in being with!

He is also survived by his two brothers, Don ( Irene ) Myers, and Paul ( Marianne ) Myers. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Laura Irving.

Jim was a member of Rockton Lodge 316, Kent chapter 192. He was also a past member of Olive Chapter 53 of the Eastern Star.

Jim had a passion and love for horses, and had a pair of helflingers that he enjoyed working with until his health started to fail.

Jim was all regarded by all family and friends as a loving and hardworking family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him

Visiting hours will be held following cremation on Tuesday April, 15th from 6- 8 pm at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home 628 West Main St in Kent, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 16th at the Portage Community Chapel of Ravenna 6490 State Route 14, at 2 pm .

His family would like to express their appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and staff, both at Robinson Memorial Hospital and Hospice.
