James M. Russell of Kent, born February 19, 1933, passed peacefully into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 26, at 8:17pm.
James was adopted at birth by Milton and Ruth (Wengert) Russell.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Filomena) Russell; sons, Dan (Sandy), Greg (Marie), Mark, and David; daughter, Cindy Cooper; grandchildren, Christy, James, Renaud, Corey, Kyle, Timmy, Heather, and Alyssa Russell, Hannah (Joe)Wheeler, Ashley, Andy, Aubrey, Taylor, and Connor Russell, Felicia Mastaso, Scott Cooper; great grandchildren, Luca and Abigail Russell, Camryn and Harlan Wheeler.
James served in the US Navy as an Airdale during the Korean War. He was a true American Patriot and a benefactor life member of the National Rifle Association. He worked for A-M International for 32 years and owned Energy Enterprises and The Gym, Fitness and Muscle Inc. for several years. He served on the Kent Civil Service Commission. He was a member of Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, and was active in ministries of the church. He also volunteered for many years as a handyman, sound technician/installer, and mechanic. Most importantly he led home Bible studies that saw many people come to Christ.
Over the past several years, nearly a decade, James faithfully sent out a daily devotion to loved ones, many of whom forwarded to their friends and loved ones. This became a primary purpose in his later life and we’ll never know on this side of heaven what the breadth of that impact may be.
