James "Jim" Allen Tomlinson

James Allen "Jim" Tomlinson, age 73, of Kent, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home.

Jim was born September 11, 1945 in Dayton, to John and Geraldine (Jamison) Tomlinson. Jim was a veteran of the Army and attained the rank of Captain. He owned and operated JASAN Company for many years. He was a member and Former President of the Kent Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed attending chamber functions especially the Wednesday morning Breakfast. He was also a member of Kent Rotary, Kent American Legion and the Purdue Alumni Association. He attended the First Christian Church in Stow, where he was the co-leader of the Open Circle Class for many years. He taught Junior Achievement in the local schools.

A Loving husband, father and grandfather, Jim loved attending all of the grandkids sporting events. He enjoyed wood turning, traveling especially the roads less travelled, bicycling and hiking. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends and going to the Outer Banks.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Norma; daughters, Shawn (Guy) Bower of Kent and Angela (Robert) Wood of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Alexander James Bower of Kent, Ryan Bower of Kent and Lindsey Wood of Clayton, NC; sister, Marita Quast of Plymouth, WI; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geraldine (Jamison) Tomlinson.

Calling hours will be held 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Saturday, February 16th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266.
