James Michael Woodliff, also known as “Mike”, “Woody” or “Papa” passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer. Born on October 23, 1957 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Joseph and Margaret Woodliff, he was a lifetime resident of Kent, Ohio.
Mike graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1976. He always worked hard for his family and retired in February 2023 from a 35-year career at Land O’ Lakes in Kent, Ohio. Papa was a family man that if he knew his family was happy and healthy, he was happy and ok. He had a dry sense of humor and was a bit ornery. You knew he liked you if he picked on you. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Cleveland Browns, the outdoors, four-wheeling, and spending time at his camper. What he enjoyed most was being with his family, grilling out, camping, and attending any activity his beloved grandkids were participating in. He helped at the horse farm where, his wife, Terri worked and kept her horses, always supporting her passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Woodliff, brother Richard Curry, sister-in-law Suzanne Lucas, and brother-in-law Thomas Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Terri Woodliff; daughter Jenni (Mike) Guld; son Eric (Kate) Woodliff; daughter Kristin (Tony) Guld; nine beloved grandchildren, Noah, Alayna, Claire, Jacob, Abby, Eli, Logan, Nathanial, and Emily; sister-in law Eleanor Martin; brother-in-law Andy Lucas; sister-in-law Nancy (Dave) Blanchard; brother-in-law Pete (Julie) Martin; sister-in-aw Katie (Mike) Fleming; his sister Carol (Glen) Henderson; brother Don (Denise) Curry, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved.
Cremation will take place and the date for a celebration of his life will be announced soon.
