Jane R. Fender, 82, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, OH. She was born in Warren, OH on December 25, 1939 and resided there until 1970, when she and her husband relocated to Kent, OH. Jane lived in Kent until earlier this year, acquiring many friends and acquaintances.
After raising three children, she attended Kent State University where she graduated with honors in Journalism. Jane worked in the film and video field, where she had the opportunity to work with Mike Tyson, Jack Nicholas and other noteworthy people. She was recognized by the National Public Radio when she wrote about the proposed Kent State Gym Annex Building.
Jane and her husband, John, enjoyed traveling. They travelled to numerous countries in Europe and spent many winter months in Florida. She was an avid tennis player, playing in the United States Tennis Association League. She was also an accomplished bridge player, an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Browns, Guardians and Cavaliers.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Margaret Lillian Rees; daughter Elizabeth Kauffman and brother Richard Rees.
She leaves behind, her devoted husband John; sons, Michael (Jody) and Richard; sisters, Margaret (Walt) and Mary (Evan) and grandchildren, Nathan and Katy.
Private services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kent State Foundation.
