Jane Cady Osborne

Jane Cady Osborne, 91, of Kent, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Longmeadow Care Center. She was born December 8, 1918 in Washington DC, to James Glenn and Helena (Cady) Osborne. Jane graduated from Kent State High School and obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in education at Kent State University. She taught 3rd grade for six years for the Alliance City Schools and 24 years for the East Cleveland Schools. She was a member of United Church of Christ of Kent (for 80 years, having joined in 1930); Aaron Olmstead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), where she served as a regent; Travelers' Club, Coterie II, and Woman's Club of Kent. An avid reader, Jane enjoyed serving as the Osborne family historian, researching our roots to American colonial days and England. She enjoyed many overseas trips to Europe and South America to study and experience other cultures. Jane was a warm and loving woman and adored by her family. She was a devoted aunt to her niece and nephews. Jane is survived by her brother, Nelson (Diane) Osborne of Suwanee, Georgia; niece, Linda Osborne (Don) Mullikin of Lawrenceville, GA; nephews, Michael (Suzy) Osborne of Suwanee, GA, Jeff (Donna) Osborne of Dallas, TX, and Jay (Carla) Osborne of Marion, IA; great nieces, Elizabeth Osborne of Winston-Salem, NC, and Lauren Osborne of Dallas, TX; great nephews, Patrick Osborne of Suwanee, GA, Jeffrey Bruce "JB" Osborne of Dallas, TX, Erik Shey Osborne of Marion, IA, Daniel Shey Osborne of Marion, IA and Coleman Shey Osborne of Marion, IA. Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Anne Osborne. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 AM at United Church of Christ of Kent with Rev. David Pattee officiating, where calling hours will be held one hour prior to the services. A private burial service will be held for the family in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ of Kent, 1400 E. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
