Jean Audette Phillips, 89, of Kent, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Stow Glen Retirement Center.
She was born February 15, 1922 in Traverse City, MI to Wilbur Hoxsie and Mabel (Whitson) Stafford. She graduated from Western Michigan College School of Occupational Therapy in 1945 and from Kent State University in 1982. She retired from Kent State University Counseling Center in 1989, where she was employed as office manager. Jean was a member of the Kent United Church of Christ. She enjoyed volunteer work at the church as well as with other organizations including Kent State's College of Continuing Studies, WKSU Public Radio and the Kevin Coleman Center.
She is survived by son, John Rand Phillips and partner, Elaine Nichols of Damascus, PA; daughter, Kay "Kate" Phillips and husband, Thomas Tercek of Gardiner, MT; granddaughter, Leah Kidney of Kent; sister, Sally Williams of Jackson, MI.
