Jennie L. Lowe, 86, of Kent, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord Sunday, September 4, 2016 at her home Kent.

Jennie who was affectionately known as "Sister", was the eldest of five children born to Richard and Essie M. (Cotton) Edwards on July 4, 1930 in Macon, MS. She was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School and Hammel Business School in Akron. She began working at Davey Jr. High School as secretary treasurer, a position she held for many years. She was a member of the NAACP and was a founding member of the Woman's Social Club of Kent. She served faithfully as pianist, organist and choir director of Spelman Chapel AME Church for over 60 years.

She is survived by her son, Ricky (Shannon) Lowe of Kent; sisters-in-law, Shirley Edwards and Gloria Blash of Akron and Muriel Edwards of Kent; brother, Richard (Alice) Edwards Jr. of Shaker Hts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilliard Dave Lowe; son, Edward D. Lowe; parents, Richard and Essie Edwards; brothers, James M. Edwards, Holley Edwards, and Joseph L. Edwards.

Calling hours will be held 10-11AM Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at Spelman Chapel AME Church, 910 Walnut Street, Kent, where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM with Pastor L. A. Gatewood officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bissler and Sons Funeral Home.
