Born on Feb 17, 1943 in Lima, Ohio, Joan's parents, John and Florence Horine, lovingly nurtured what would become Joan's life-long commitment to music. An accomplished flautist, Joan graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1961 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin Wallace University and her Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan. Joan's greatest love was her music, She and she devoted her life to sharing music as a music educator, adjudicator and performer touching many lives. For over 30 years, Joan taught music at Fremont, Tallmadge and Nordonia public schools. In addition, during this time and after her retirement, she taught private lessons and coached hundreds of local flute students.
