John Haydo, 96, of Stow, went home to be with Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls.
He was born February 27, 1916 in Cleveland, to Leonard and Edena (Key) Haydo. John was a veteran of the Navy serving on submarines during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite for 49 years. In 1983-84, he was the Commander of VFW Post 1863 in Solon, and belonged to the American Legion Posts 309, 281 and 464. After retirement he volunteered many hours at the local VA hospitals in the area. John was a loving and caring father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by daughters, Christine (Gary) Gear and Pat Warwick both of San Clemente, CA; grandchildren, Daniel Dillard of Kent, Kathryn (Samuel) Dillard of Rootstown, Christopher Haydo of Washington and Kelly Brown of Minnesota; five great grandchildren;. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Haydo; second wife, Eleanor Haydo; daughter, Karen Dillard; son, Cliff Haydo; parents, Leonard and Edena (Key) Haydo; and sister, Ruth Myers.
There will be no calling hours. Private funeral services will be held. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
