John R. Hillery, 74, of Akron, died Monday, May 25, 2015 at National Church Residences in Cuyahoga Falls.
He was born May 7, 1941 in Akron, to John R. Hillery Sr. and Isabelle Carolyn (Smith) Work. He was a member of the Elks, ASHRAE and the American Canal Society. John was an avid reader and enjoyed history. He liked caring for his cars and loved to travel the backroads.
He is survived by his wife, Nina (Newton) Hillery, whom he married on November 29, 1980; son, John D. (Michelle) Hillery of New Vienna; daughter, Michelle L. (Chuck) Dye of Delaware, OH; granddaughters, Hayley and Natalie Dye; sisters, Christine (Steve) Ashby of Akron, Monica Hillery of Culpeper, VA and Patricia (Paul) Settle of Culpeper, VA; uncle, Donald (Betty) Smith of Orrville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Hillery Sr. and Isabelle Carolyn (Smith) Work; and many aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be held 4-8 PM Thursday, May 28th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent, where funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, May 29th with Rev.
