John Kenneth Kline

John Kenneth "Ken" Kline, 92, of Rootstown, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Altercare of Brimfield. He was born January 6, 1918 in Akron, to Clarence A. and Alice E. (Knapp) Kline. He was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Church, the Knights of Columbus, Third Order of St. Francis for 67 years as Brother Augustine, the Cursillo and the Thursday morning prayer group. Ken was the organist and choir director at St. Peter of the Fields for over 50 years. He was a musician and played in many dance bands in the Akron and Kent area. In 1951 he took over his grandfather's dairy farm in Rootstown which is still working today. At the same time he delivered bread in the Kent/Stow area for City Bakery. He retired from Matco Tools in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose(Frank) Kline; children, William "Bill" M. Kline of Brimfield, Joseph G. (Opal) Kline of Bonita Springs, FL, , Therese (Rodney) Schey of Wapakoneta, Elizabeth "Betty" Meade of Akron, Mary F. (Edward) Roynesdal of Louisa, VA, James A. Kline of Parma, Loretta "Lori" G. (James) Dunkin of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Timothy J. (Kim) Kline, Brenda E. (Yanci) Smith, Robert J. (Alicia) Kline, Lawrence M. (Lynn) Kline, John R. (Wendy) Meyers, James C. Meyers, Kristin A. Roynesdal, Kari Ann Roynesdal, Amie C. (David) Kline-Craddock, Michelle M. (Heath) Sershen, Shannon R. Dunkin; twelve great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, many step great grandchildren; brother, Marcus "Mark" C. (Pauline) Kline of Uniontown. He was preceded in death by his son, John Kenneth Kline Jr.; grandson, William Kline; brother, Harold Kline; and son-in-law, William "Bill" E. Meade. Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday, March 12 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, OH. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 13 at St. Peter of the Fields Church. Burial will be in St. Peter of the Fields Cemetery in Rootstown.
