John R. Luli, 88, of Rootstown, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Ravenna on October 29, 1935 to the late George and Mary Luli and was a 1954 graduate of Rootstown High School.
John was employed as a carpenter for over 56 years. He was a member of Retired Carpenter’s Local #285 and was known as a “wood surgeon”. He was always keeping busy and lending a helping hand building homes for his family. John enjoyed woodworking and built many baby cradles.
He was a longtime member of St. John Neumann Parish at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church and also attended St. John Neumann Parish at Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at both churches. John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons John Luli Jr and Girard “Jerry” Luli; sisters, Marita Leyland, Florence Trares, Margaret Laskos, Eloise Miley and Mary Postelthwait; and brothers William Luli Sr, George Luli Jr and Charles Luli.
He leaves his loving wife Allie Luli; children, Bob (Pam) Luli, Carolyn (Dean) Abbe and Eric (Anne) Luli; daughter-in-law Carin Luli-Mudd; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and siblings Raymond Luli and Sister Dorothy Luli S.N.D.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. John Neumann Parish at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd. Rootstown, OH 44272, with the Rev. Fr. Kevin Bertleff as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Chardon, 13000 Auburn Rd. Chardon, OH 44024 or to the Elder Rosary Society at St. Peter of the Fields.
