John P. Schwartzhoff

John P. Schwartzhoff, 76, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Mulberry Gardens. He was born in Alliance, OH on June 8, 1948 to the late Joseph and Marie Schwartzhoff and was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School.

John graduated from Bluffton University where he excelled in football and baseball, and was later inducted into the Bluffton Baseball Hall of Fame. He was employed in education as a teacher and administrator for 38 years at the following schools; Crestwood, Alliance, Garretsville-Garfield, Stow Munroe Falls, Nordonia Hills, Ravenna and Kent. During his career, he also coached football, basketball and track. In 2015 he was blessed to be the recipient of a liver transplant. Given these additional years, he became a Yoga Instructor at One Love Yoga.

John was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan, as well as being a great appreciator of music.

He and his wife Susan were blessed with two sons; Benjamin and Thomas. The greatest joy in his life was being Pop Pop to Owen, John and Stella.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Jerry McAchran, brothers Joey and Greg, brother-in-law Joe Campbell, and nephews Nathan Schwartzhoff and Derek Campbell.

John leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Susan, sons Benjamin (Jenny) and Thomas (Michelle), grandchildren Owen Schwartzhoff, John and Stella Schwartzhoff, sisters Kathryn (Lefty), Dorothy (Ed), Theresa Campbell, brothers Jimmy and Kevin and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ben Curtis Family Foundation.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00AM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Calling hours will be Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5:00-7:00PM and one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
