John Burnard Shipley

John “Burnard” was born October 12, 1928 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late John Evan and Alice Mae (Pittman) Shipley.  John peacefully passed into eternal life on November 25, 2023 while rehabbing from surgery following a fractured leg.  He is survived by his sister, three children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

John graduated from Ravenna Township High School in 1946, served in the Army from 1951-1953, and graduated from Ohio State University in Mechanical Engineering in 1958.  He married the love of his life Karin Louise Stohl whom he lost after 54 years of marriage.  John worked 33 years at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and lived many places around the world (Caracas, Venezuela; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Gadsen, AL; Ravenna, OH) building tire plants as the Banbury Expert.  John was a loyal, humble servant of the Lord and always put others first.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 30th from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and a Celebration of Life service will be Friday, December 1st 11 A.M. (followed by a luncheon) both at the Ravenna United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ravenna United Methodist Church – “Henderson Fund”.
