Joseph M. Polack, 92, of Kent, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 24, 1921 in Youngstown to Andrew and Pearl (Tarby) Polack. He was a WWII US Army Air Corps veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant 13th Air Corps in the South Pacific. Joseph worked at Twin Coach and then retired after 25 years with Chrysler in Twinsburg. He was a member of the St. Patrick Church, where he served as an usher; Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus #1411; Faithful Past Navigator of the Pope Pius XII Assembly; Western Whirlers, and Kent American Legion. He enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening and cards.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne (Garden), whom he married on November 22, 1947; sons, Joseph (Jean) Polack of Kent, Gary Polack of Rootstown, and Nelson (Cindy) Polack of Ravenna; grandchildren, Ryan (Anna), Cody, Matt (Ave), Evan, and Evelyn; great grandchildren, Logan; Maria, Megan, Ella, and Ava; brother, Edward (Ellen) of Kent; sister, Helen Simko of Barberton; sister-in-law, Dolores Polack of Akron. He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew.
His family would like to thank all his caregivers for their care and dedication.
Calling hours will be held 5-7 PM Wednesday, February 5th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent with the Knights of Columbus services at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, February 6th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
