Judith M (Perkinson) Adamek

July 11, 1936 — January 28, 2022

Kent

Judith M. Adamek, 85, passed away at home, January 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born on July 11, 1936 to Frank and Marion Perkinson and raised in Buffalo, NY. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, she met the love of her life, Raymond J. Adamek, on a blind date while studying nursing at D’Youville College. After the birth of her and Ray’s eleventh and last child, she earned a Bachelor of Nursing degree at the University of Akron in 1980. For years she drew joy and youthfulness from her work as a registered nurse in the maternity ward of Robinson Memorial Hospital.

Judy had an infectious laugh and gregarious personality and as a result knew no strangers. In 1967, she founded La Leche League in Kent; where, later, she helped to establish Birthright. A member of St. Patrick’s, Judy was active in parish organizations and attended Mass daily. Her faith was the guiding pillar of her life.

Judy’s deepest joy was family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Joan Heary; brother, David Perkinson; grandsons, Benjamin Adamek and Jacob Adamek. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Raymond; her sisters, Mary Caryl Perkinson and Jeré Ann Sonderman, children, Mary (Gary) Hermelin, Anne (Derrick) McKinney, Dr. Margaret (Eddie Johnson) Adamek, Dr. Peter (Terri Coyne) Adamek, Catherine (Ron) Thier, Elizabeth (Kevin) Heisey, Paul Adamek, Dr. Philip Adamek, Patrick (Julie) Adamek, Rachel (Bruce) Scott, and John (Missy Crawford) Adamek. Judy was blessed with 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She marveled at their accomplishments.
