Judith Anne Schlag, 77, of Kent, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at her residence. She was born July 23, 1932 in Santiago, Chile (S.A.) to Webster and Joyce (Paulsel) Hodge. She was a 1953 graduate of Ohio State University earning her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After raising her family she worked part time with H&R Block as a tax preparer. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Kent and enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading. Judy volunteered with the Camp Fire girls and Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. She was an avid genealogist and a collector of ceramics and figurines. Judy was known for her knitting and made many items for the church and for the County Clothing Center. She is survived by her husband, William Schlag, whom she married on February 13, 1954; son, William "Bill" (Becky) Schlag Jr. of Chardon; daughters, Susan Sorboro of Stow, Laura (John) Barrett of Fayetteville, NC and Janet (Tom) Gutierrez of Hollis, NH; four grandchildren; sister, Joyce Rea of Durham, NC; and two nieces. Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, April 12 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 13 at Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Julie Blake Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church of Kent Building Fund, 118 S.
