June Bella of Kent, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved wife passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Her loving heart, warm inviting smile, radiant blue eyes and infectious laughter filled the lives of all with many tender memories. Her home was always a gathering place for family and friends who never left without being touched by her heart-felt generosity, delicious meals, and never-ending love.
She was born August 1, 1925 in Langdondale, PA to Theodore and Harriet (Lythgoe) Leonard. She is survived by her three adoring daughters, LaDonna (Rev. Bernard) Dougherty of Summerfield, NC, Norene Bella of Kent, Karla (Robert) Bella-Smuts of Kent whose friends always knew they had a loving and caring place to come to where they could share their joys and find comfort in their times of need. "Grammie/Mee Maw" was loved by her grandchildren; Michael (Hannah) Dougherty of High Point, NC, Dawnya (Michael) LaMantia of Munroe Falls, and Robbie and Mylane Bella-Smuts of Kent. She was overjoyed and blessed with the births of her great-grandchildren Emma, Jacob, and Annalise LaMantia; and Leo Dougherty. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jerri Leonard of Corpus Christi, TX; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Mike Bella, loving parents, and brothers, Harry, Roy, Don, and Bill Leonard.
Over her many years, she was an outward Christian by teaching Sunday School, being a communion steward, creating beautiful flower arrangements which she personally delivered to friends and family, was involved in PTO and was a Campfire Girl Leader. She graciously opened her home to host missionaries from around the world. She always delighted in supporting her children and grandchildren in their many musical, athletic, theatre, and church endeavors.
She was blessed with the last seven years which became a testament to her strong faith. Her daughter Norene cared for her like no one else could. During that time, they had many people come to assist and visit who in turn left touched by their strength, courage, love, and extraordinary devotion to each other and to life itself.
This precious woman will be truly missed by many, but her legacy is shown by the strong love that unites her family, even in this time of sorrow. She firmly believed and lived her life daily in the conviction that her family's love will bind their hearts together for all eternity.
