Katharina Polz, 82, of Kent, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Mulberry Gardens in Munroe Falls. She was born February 20, 1928 in Bajmok, Yugoslavia to John and Sofia (Lutz) Beck. She and her family emigrated from Vienna, Austria in 1951 to Chicago. Then they came to Akron finally settling in Kent. She was a member of St. Patrick Church; and the German Family Society Golden Ring. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved baking, gardening, and taking care of her family. She is survived by her husband, Filipp Polz, whom she married on August 3, 1949; sons, Bob (Nancy) Polz, Bernie (Sharon) Polz, and Michael (Sandy) Polz; daughter, Debbie (Mark) Recktenwald; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Mary Rickert; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Theresia Bliem. Calling hours will be held 5-7 PM Wednesday, April 21st at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 22nd at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
